With this project, the idea is to take the already good Technics Direct Drive Motor and circuitry and mount it in a better or upgraded plinth. I will move the power supply external, treat it to a new arm and anything else I can think of along the way. This is the first part I purchased. A rough but intact Top Plate off a Technics SL-1200 mkII. It had a curry spilt over it at some point, it had seeped into various parts including the Transformer well but it cleaned off easily. It weighs 1.66 Kilos is made of what looks like some form of magnesium alloy and rings like a bell when struck. My main concern was that there should be no cracks or stripped threads/snapped screws left in the bosses, which there weren't. So a good starting point for some serious modding!
