Campervan Conversion Shower Room and Loo (Updated May 2026) I hadn't planned on creating much frame work in my build, but rather depend on the structure of the van. However, its very curved and I wanted flat straight walls in the shower, so made an exception. ![]() I just used 50mm and 38mm wide, pressure treated, roofing battens. These are 25mm thick, the same as the PIR insulation sheets. The Truma water heater is mounted adjacent, under what will eventually be the wardrobe, so nothing new there, its a popular arrangement on commercial moterhome builds. It keeps the pipework nice and short, minimum heat loss and minimum number of connections that might leak. ![]() Me and the misses are retired and starting to feel our age, so the shower room needs to be a reasonable size with a bit of elbow room. The 840 x 650 mm shower tray, occupies the whole of the floor space, so its more like a wet room. To maximise the available space, I didn't want the frame to stick out to far into the van, this meant that the awkward bit of body work and cable harness, at the top left, protrudes slightly through the wall. I will cover this with some kind of water proof box. The space gained by doing this, was worth the cosmetic detraction. The back wall still leans in slightly, but its a flat surface. ![]() Just about completed. Used floor vinyl on the walls, stuck down with Trimfix spray adhesive. ![]() Twin drain outlets fitted to allow for a non level van in fields etc. A Pee pipe connection has been installed at the rear right, for when circumstances allow its use. ![]() ![]() Cleo tilt up basin and cupboard set were fitted and a plastic duck board. ![]() The shower mixer valve was fitted alongside the sink unit. This will have a dual function, full flow/shower spray head and will be used to fill the basin as well as for shower duty. This keeps it out of the way, nothing worse than banging your elbow on something with an eye full of shampoo. It saves on pipework complexity, the number of connections and thereby reduces the chances of leaks. ![]() A roller blind type door from THEdour was fitted to save on space. ![]() Underneath, the solid Copper Pee pipe and flexible Grey water pipes all converge. I used "Y" connectors to smooth the flow of the Grey water. The two shower wastes are 1.25" BSP with adapters to 25 to 20 mm as thats the tanks input spigot size. The two shower drains and the tip up sink drain come together into one 20mm hose. To be continued.............. |
